Marco and Shane met through coaching in the Tyke U7 program for Mimico Canadiens hockey club and saw an opportunity to bring the same local community spirit to soccer in Mimico. Both have coaching experience, but key to the project is Marco's background in running small to large social adult sports programs through Off Limits Sports, which allowed us to piggyback off an existing structure.
Approach for Kids
Young kids want to have fun and will stay engaged if they're having fun. We want to instill a love of soccer, as well as the teamwork and friendships that come with it.

A little bit about Marco
For over a decade Marco has been running social adult sports programs throughout the GTA, in 2010 he created OffLimitSports.com. Although this was primarily to raise money for charitable causes, his love and passion to connect people through active social sports programs rapidly grew programs to tens of thousands of participants. Energy, passion and a love to share this with the kids … there is no doubt you will see this when meeting Marco.

A little bit about Alexa
Alexa grew up in Paris, ON playing any and all sports she could find but her favourite was soccer. She played Women’s competitive/rep soccer for the Paris FC soccer club for over 6 years and co-coached youth league over the summers before heading off to university to study Kinesiology and eventually Nursing. She’s lived in Toronto since 2016 where she’s worked as a Paediatric Nurse for the last 4 years. Alexa brings a lot of energy to the game and loves teaching fundamentals and skills in a fun loving way!

A little bit about Shane
Shane grew up in Sligo in the West of Ireland playing competitive Soccer, Gaelic Football and Hurling, while also coaching kids in all three sports. He has lived in Toronto since 2006, and moved to Mimico in 2013. Since hanging up the boots in the Ontario Soccer League he learned to skate in Mimico and now plays hockey too. Very community/team driven, he now wants to pass down the love of the game to the kids of Mimico and help make every kid a better player and a great teammate.

A little bit about Katie
Katie grew up in Etobicoke playing competitive soccer, basketball, and rowing. After graduating from her post graduate studies, she moved to Switzerland for three years where she worked at an international children's camp. For many years she worked in various parts of Toronto teaching swimming to children of all ages. She is passionate about sports and still plays soccer, hockey and curling and would love to pass on her love and passion for soccer to the next generation.
